A Christmas Greeting from GCN

It’s that time of year again — malls are being decorated, plans are being made for time with family, and if you’re anything like me, you’ve had the holiday music playing since November. And as the famous song proclaims, “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.”

Personally, each year the Christmas season brings a sense of reflection matched with anticipation. For weeks, days, or maybe just a few hours, we’re able to pause and remember. We remember through singing, sharing stories, good food, and through serving one another.

Oftentimes, I must admit that the season can get busy, and it can be easy to forget why we are celebrating Christmas in the first place. We can take a reminder from what the angels declared on the night Christ was born. Christmas is “good news of great joy that will be for all the people (Lk. 2:10).”

Below are three videos, each one is less than six minutes long. These videos provide us with unique aspects of the Christmas story which we sometimes forget or miss in the busyness of the time of year.

The first video is from Paul David Tripp. Tripp’s fireside chat with viewers addresses three often overlooked themes in the Christmas story.

The next video is from The Bible Project. In this video, Tim Mackie and John Collins narrate an animated story, walking us through Luke 1-2.

Lastly, we have a song from the artist Poor Bishop Hooper called “Christ.” This beautiful Christmas song is probably unlike any you’ve heard before. The song traces the Matthew 1 genealogy, starting with Abraham and ending in a crescendo with the birth of Christ. This song is a beautiful way to reflect on God’s faithfulness throughout the generations as the year comes to an end and we celebrate Christmas.

From everyone at Gospel City Network, we wish you a Merry Christmas! We pray that during this season you are able to spend time with friends and family, spend time resting and recharging, and most importantly, spend time reflecting on the birth of Christ.
