ReVision Journey: Testimonials of Impact
ReVision is a workshop that helps align church leaders with a common mission by articulating what God has called them to be and fostering consensus on how to bring it into fruition.
Spanning two days, the ReVision workshop systematically identified specific goals, interventions, and programs necessary to actualise the envisioned future.
In this blog post, check out two testimonials from churches that participated in the ReVision workshop this year.
Klang Baptist Church by Chin Fook Khiang
We praise God that we had Ps. Rod Morris and the GCN team in early Feb 2023 to help re-cast our church vision. While it is true that we already have our church mission (to know Him and make Him known) as the overarching banner for Klang Baptist Church, with ReVision, we now have a distinctive roadmap. Revision gave us measurable 1-year objectives, as well as one objective for the next 5 – 20 years. We now have an actionable vision, whereby everyone in KBC leadership has the opportunity from the outset for buy-in. That said, in the recent months, we also have had the opportunity to review our progress, with the final destination on track and still within sight. Yes, we marvel at the incremental but discernible progress made. We stand amazed at where God will be taking us; our Lord be praised!
As was evident from the workshop, opportunities abound for KBC to engage with our community, which comprises predominantly non-believers. Interestingly, non-believers do not shy away from the wholesome curriculum of our church kindergarten and also Sunday School. Therein, the thrust of our near-term objectives in ReVision lean toward intentional connections with non-believers. One worthy mention is our recent Church Camp. For the first time in the history of KBC, participants from the community outnumbered the ones from our church. We appreciate prayers that KBC can build on this momentum moving forward. While integrating church members into our kindergarten is important, not less significant are the need for discipleship, vibrant care groups, and well-equipped leadership.
“Truly, truly. Where there is no prophetic vision, the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.” – Proverbs 29:18. With ReVision, we have a clear, well-articulated, and agreed-upon vision for one and all. We praise God for making this possible. We thank God for all in the GCN team and we praise God for undergirding our eventful journey with His grace; peppered with His insights, every step of the way.
Petaling Jaya Evangelical Free Church (Chinese Congregation) by Jeremy Lim
The 3-day 2-night Revisioning workshop for PJEFC Chinese Congregation was a fruitful experience. The workshop was led by Pr. Gideon, an experienced and passionate facilitator, who helped us to develop a clear vision for our church’s future.
The workshop began with a time of worship and prayer, and then we launched into a series of activities and exercises designed to help us reflect on our church’s past, present, and future.
One of the most helpful aspects of the workshop was the time we spent in developing a clear vision statemen., I appreciated that everyone had an equal part to play in this. Pr. Gideon helped us to identify our church’s unique core values and to articulate a vision for what we want to achieve in the future.
The workshop also gave us the opportunity to develop a strategic plan for implementing our vision. We worked together to identify our church’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as the opportunities and threats that we face. We then developed a plan with concrete steps that we can take to achieve our 5 years vision; 3 years vision; 1 year vision; and objectives for the next 90 days.
